Copperstone is a professional consultancy providing building surveying and services advice. We are based in West Sussex near the Surrey and Hampshire borders, and principally work across the south of England and London, but also currently serving clients up to York.

We work in the private and public sectors on commercial, institutional and residential buildings, providing project management, M&E design, surveys, party wall, dilapidations services, defect diagnosis reporting, maintenance and duties under the CDM regs.

Copperstone have particular experience in building conservation and heritage property. This is backed up by the surveying director who is on the RICS register of historic building professionals.

SIMON CLARK
Director of Building Surveying

Simon is a chartered building surveyor with over 20 years of experience in consultancy and clientside. working on a full wide range of building types and uses, and in urban and rural locations around the country. Simon has a passion for historic buildings and is an RICS accredited Conservation Surveyor with extensive experience in the heritage sector.

Simon is also an incorporated member of the Association of Project Safety (APS) and has had scores of instructions as a Principal Designer or Client’s CDM Adviser under the CDM Regulations 2015. Simon is commercially astute and possesses a very strong professional conscience which ensures that the highest customer service levels are provided.

Away from work, Simon enjoys family time, cycling, following cricket and rugby internationals, visiting National Trust sites, good food and once in a while a fine ale, and socialising with friends, as well as voluntary work in the conservation world including as a member of the committees of conservation groups in Sussex and London.

ANDREW DOUGHERTY
Director of M&E Services

Andrew is an experienced Mechanical & Electrical Consultant, having worked in the construction industry for more than 30 years, initially within the family construction firm before moving into consultancy. Andrew has worked on most building types, but with a particular specialism in boutique hotels, restaurants and wedding venues, high end domestic properties and heritage buildings. He has built up a client base of main contractors, small businesses and private clients in carrying out specification work, estimating and tendering, budget estimating, negotiation, mediation, design and project management.

Andrew has always had a keen interest in modern materials, energy efficiency and sustainable options on the market to suit a project’s requirements. He has a passion for renewables and has advised numerous clients on the topic in relation to a variety of both commercial and domestic contracts. Away from work, Andrew enjoys time with his family, plays 5-a-side football & tennis with a small amount of fair-weather golfing. Having played Rugby to a reasonable standard he’s now a keen supporter. He enjoys food and cooking with a small hobby in wine.
